Sorg Opera House - Frequently Asked Questions

Tickets

How can I order tickets for an upcoming show?

Go to the Tickets and Events page of our website, and when you find your event, click the on sale NOW! link for that show. This will take you to our official ticket provider, Cincy Tickets, where you can order tickets for any upcoming show. You can also purchase tickets for any future show at the Sorg Opera House box office.

When can I stop by the Sorg to purchase tickets in person?

Since the Sorg is entirely run by volunteers, we do not have regular daytime business hours. However, the box office opens at least one hour before every performance, and we can sell you tickets for any future show. Check our performance schedule on the Tickets and Events page to find out when the theater will be open.

Can I order tickets over the phone?

Sorry, but no. Due to credit card security requirements and to keep ticket fees low, neither Cincy Tickets nor our volunteers take orders over the phone. Please purchase your tickets online or in person at the box office, as described above.

I bought my ticket from a website other than Cincy Ticket - is it still valid?

Maybe not! Cincy Ticket is our only authorized ticket sales outlet. Sometimes ticket resellers purchase tickets from Cincy Ticket, then resell them online at a profit. If you purchase from any site other than Cincy Ticket, we cannot guarantee the validity of the ticket. We also cannot look up your order and reprint it for you when you arrive at the theater. And you will almost certainly pay more if you buy from a reseller. Unless otherwise stated on our Ticket & Events page, you should always purchase your Sorg tickets from Cincy Ticket through the links on the Sorg Opera House website.

Help! I can’t find my tickets!

We can reprint or resend your tickets, whether you bought them in person at the box office or online at CincyTicket.com. Call or email the box office and we can look up your tickets and resend them to your email, or have them printed and waiting for you at the box office on the day of the show. Note: Cash sales at the box office do not record your name with the sale! You should write down the six digit order number on the tickets, and keep it in a safe place. That will be the only way we can look up your tickets for cash sales!

I can’t make it to the show. Can I get a refund for my tickets?

No, but we can exchange your tickets for another performance (see below). All tickets sold online or at our box office are non-fundable. The only exception is if a performance is canceled, in which case your credit card will be refunded, or cash purchases can be refunded or exchanged at our box office.

Can I switch my ticket to another seat, or another performance?

Yes, we will be glad to help you change your tickets, subject to availability. Call or email the Sorg Box Office, and we’ll do all we can to help you.

Contact the Sorg Opera House Box Office at boxoffice@sorgopera.org, or leave a voicemail at

Seating

Tell me about your handicapped seating.

Wheelchairs: There are several seat locations for sale on the main floor of the theater that have no seat at their location, but are instead spots for wheelchairs. They are located at the right and left ends of several rows, and are indicated on the Cincy Ticket website with a wheelchair icon. These are the specific seat numbers for those wheelchair spots:

Row 5, left side, seat 13

Row 7, right side, seat 15

Row 9, right side, seat 15

Row 14, left side, seat 14

Handicapped: We have four seats on the center aisle that have armrests that swing up out of the way to make it easier to get in and out of the seats. These are indicated on the Cincy Ticket website with exclamation points. These seats are:

Row 4, left side, seat 1

Row 7, left side, seat 1

Row 11, right side, seat 1

Row 16, right side, seat 1

Balcony: Please note that there is no elevator in the theater, and the balcony seats are only accessible by stairs. There are no special handicapped seats in the balcony.

Tell me about your box seats.

Each box seats up to four people. However, due to the angle of the boxes and the stage, your view of the stage will be limited, especially of the back of the stage. The view from the lower boxes can be further obscured by sound equipment at the sides of the stage. For this reason, we do not offer the boxes for plays or events that use the entire depth of the stage. For concerts in which the performers are mostly at the front of the stage, the boxes can be a novel and up-close view of the show.

Schedule

Where can I find out about your entire season?

We do not have defined seasons, but we are constantly adding new concerts and shows to our schedule. You can see all the shows currently scheduled at the Tickets and Events page of our website. You can also follow us on Facebook for updates to our schedule.

Can I get a backstage tour?

We offer backstage tours of the Sorg Opera House conducted by a volunteer who discusses the history of the building as well as the current renovation efforts. You will get to see areas not normally open to the public: backstage, the downstairs dressing room area and the upper balcony. There is not a charge for the tour, but donations are requested. Find the dates and sign up for upcoming tours on the Tickets and Events page of our website.

Rentals

Can I rent the Sorg for an event?

Certainly! We have different rates for concerts and other events, film shoots and photo shoots. Please email us at info@sorgopera.org and we can answer your questions, send you a contract and welcome package, or arrange a tour so you can decide if the venue is right for you.

I want to shoot some senior photos - can’t I just stop in during the day when someone is there?

We are an all-volunteer group with day jobs, so there’s not a full-time staff at the Sorg. Even for a simple photo shoot inside the theater, a volunteer has to give up part of their day to let you in and supervise the building, so we require a location fee. Remember that all of your fee will go to support the operation and continued restoration of this historic theater.
